I intended to paint, then searched, photographed and snacked-upon numerous 'Chocolate Chip cookie' candidates to have an image source, unmistakably representative of such a cookie (and not to be mistaken , for example, with Oatmeal or Peanut Butter Cookie types...). The subject emerged from an interest in 'round' forms - after having painted a view of a moon in the night sky. I also admired a work of Georgio DeChirico that included images of shortbread cookies in the composition. Shown starkly in Black & White, the craggy detail of this painting's cookie surface often evoked the Moon surface to viewers.
In the end, the contents of a package of Chips Ahoy cookies yielded my iconic source.
