Sometime around 1983 in Michigan, I painted a 'Roy Lichtenstein- Homage' version of Charlie Brown's head with this quote: I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND ME WRITING ALL THIS DOWN. The novelty of the quote (both Pop Art and Text art) has stuck with me and by 2021, I thought I would re-approach the subject. This version is at the scale of the paperback source and I repurposed an unfinished ground - the Black and White composition, previously vertical was established around 1991 while in Chicago. Thus, this is from the 'recasts' group (previously referred to as 'Transatlantic series' to refer to works by Piet Mondrian begun in Europe and completed in New York City) group - bridging periods of work and made in more than one city/more than one studio/more than one era.
In 2022, this was acquired to a private Collection in Seattle.
